About

StorySide:B rode a wave of success in the mid-2000’s touring behind hits that included “Be Still”, “Miracle”, “Everything and More”, and “More To This Life”. Headed by guitarist and vocalist Lucio “Lu” Rubino, StorySide:B began when Lu and drummer Jordan Mohilowski took second place in the band division of the 2003 “Exalting Him” talent contest, which aired on TBN. They went on to form StorySide...:B with bassist and pianist Ron McClelland and guitarists Matt Lande and Preston Pohl. Gotee Records president Joey Elwood heard them play an acoustic set and introduced them to Gotee founder tobyMac who quickly signed the band.

StorySide:B released Everything and More in 2005 and followed it up with We Are Not Alone in 2007. The albums generated the hit singles “Miracle” (#2 at Christian radio), “Everything and More” (#2), “More To This Life” (#14), and “Be Still” (Top 5). “Be Still” went on to win multiple awards including a BMI Award for “Top 5 Most Played Songs on Christian Radio”.

But StorySide:B faced the most difficult and tragic challenge of its young career when band member and friend Ron McClelland collapsed and died while playing basketball on the Carnival cruise ship Fascination. In a sad coincidence, the band’s manager David Lipscomb passed away three weeks later following a battle with cancer. Sadness and grief derailed the band and the members decided to go their separate ways and pursue their music independently. But their creativity and drive to express themselves musically was not extinguished.

Lu Rubino and Preston Pohl both returned to St. Augustine, FL, running into each other often as both became active members of the city’s music scene. Jordan Mohilowski began drumming for The Afters and has been touring with them throughout America.

In early 2011 Lu decided it was time to make music and begin performing again as StorySide:B. Joined by newcomer Jesse Cruce, they've just released "Beauty From Ashes", a new album that includes versions of StorySide:B hits as well as new music from the band. Growing from the challenges and successes of the past and embracing a vibrant musical future, Lu carries the same brand of positive messages the band's fans came to love and expect. The band’s new sound is both familiar and new, with the old grooves and rhythmic excitement blending seamlessly with a more acoustic guitar-driven sound and a warmer, fuller vocal approach from Lu. They’ve been playing live dates and more will be announced throughout 2012.  The album was released briefly on the now-defunct Jesus Daily Group label and will enjoy a new release in the near future!

In addition to the new group offering, Lu has just released a solo project as well. Lu's self-titled debut album was released on May 4 on his own Fish Tank Recordings label. StorySide:B is back and its music is stronger than ever – living proof that time heals all things. Lu is excited to share it all with you!
